Amoriri

Amoriri

amoriri

Nature is calling…

Amoriri is a short-film set to an original song from the album called "Amoriri".  The chant came to me deep in ceremony. I do not and may never fully understand its meaning nor do I wish to rob the listener of their own interpretation. All I will say is that there is a play on words here, the word "Amor", Love, and the word, "Morir", Death.

AMORIRI is about a girl who feels out of place in modern day society. She knows there is another way of being and hears a call from “the other side”. . .

She finds magic clues and treasures that guide her steps. Bit by bit, she leaves the world of the city behind and enters into the Heart of Nature where the spirits await her.

Because she is willing to die to keep her true Self alive for her Love of Nature. . .the spirits initiate her - the warrior, the shaman, the compassionate mother, the wirapuru (bird), the onza (jaguar), and the snake clean her, bless her, and give her the gifts of their medicine.

She is reborn as a multidimensional self -uniting the essence of the wirapuru and the onza, having walked the path of Amoriri, Love and Death. Now she is a protector and guide for others to come...

Starboard Light

Does a family make a house? Or does a house make a family?

Sometimes the greatest adventure is the journey home. A love letter to loss spanning five generations, Starboard Light is an inspiring and poignant documentary that shows us how to hold on and asks: does a family make a house? or does a house make a family?

The film revolves around a middle-class family facing the disappearance of a century of memories when they sell their 210 year old summer home on Cape Cod. Whether it’s a small cabin deep in the woods, a primary residence that’s been handed down generation after generation or a waterfront summer getaway, there is a Starboard Light in many of our lives that we’ve struggled to keep or painfully had to let go. Vicariously through this American family (the filmmaker’s own), Starboard Light helps us all learn how to immortalize the generations of memories and values baked into these shared family homes so that we may pass them on to our own children and grandchildren.

Hurricane

Land is the only thing worth killing, worth fighting, worth lying, and worth dying for.

The Garden of Steven

A missionary walks into a bar...

Steven Crosby, a small town missionary in a strange land stumbles upon the lowest road to salvation with the help of a little Mayan girl, a black magic woman, and a saint with a cigar.

Steven Crosby wakes up in Antigua, Guatemala with a mission: to convert as many locals as he can, armed with only some religious comic books and a couple words of high school Spanish. If he fails, his father, a preacher, will make Steven pack his things and return to Ohio to a life of menial work in the church. His attempts to bring the locals the good news are thwarted by comic misunderstanding, bad luck, and all manner of mishaps. Just as Steven is about to give up, he has a chance encounter with a sodden street vendor, who puts him on a journey to find a shadowy figure named Maximon—a mix of a Mayan God and a Catholic Saint, and the patron of sinners, prostitutes, and drunks. Steven meets a plucky little girl and a beautiful bartender who help Steven find Maximon, and himself, along the way. With their help, Steven takes the low road to unique brand of salvation.

If Iceland Could Sing

Ég anda by Sigur Rós

If Iceland's land and sea and sky could speak, Ég anda is what they'd sing. This video was edited by Shane Alcock with extra footage from another production in Iceland in July 2012. The footage was shot while Nick Fitzhugh was leading a National Geographic Student Expedition teaching students filmmaking. Among many other videos they produced, their final projects were also music videos for this contest.

The intention with this video was simply to attempt to do justice to what are universally majestic and otherworldly landscapes that so beautifully match the music of Sigur Rós and explain the music.
